Merry Christmas little Pearl

I think it is a pretty fair statement about life that you can almost always expect the unexpected.  Our little Pearl was born on December 27th.  She was due only six days later.  I had a strong hunch she would be born a bit early because she just seemed so determined to move around as much as possible.  This pregnancy I have been so busy with everything else that I didn't actually realize it was a reality that she would be born till we went into the hospital Christmas day.  I wasn't sure if my water had broken and we went to just get checked out.  It had not, thank heavens, but I was dilated to a 3+ and they wanted to keep me just in case I was progressing but fortunately the doc said to me send me home.  I was so grateful because the delivery room was the last place I wanted to be on Christmas day and it was honestly the absolute first day in so long that Aaron and I were not working on the house sun up to sun up and I just wanted to RELAX!  So all of my family came for the holidays and then we took family pics on the 26th and that is when I started serious labor.  During the photo shoot.  My mom was trying so hard to get us all there and she succeeded.  I kept thinking that it must have been false labor but we went home afterwards and it continued while we opened family presents and then Aaron and I (and my brother Tony) were off to the hospital.  Gretchen Maria Eve Waldron was born at 4:34 in the morning on the following day.  I didn't know what to expect with this little one and wondered how I was going to fit her into my heart with my little Julian.  But after a pretty difficult labor she was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  She has such a special little spirit and I am so grateful that she came to our little family.  It didn't seem like I had as much time to think about this sort of thing with Julian but she really just fills the room with her special spirit and is such a perfect little pearl.  It is moments like these that convinces even the greatest cynic (me) that life really is beautiful:)

So we missed out on all the wonderful events that we had planned and worked for this Christmas season with our family but I'm so glad that we had our little Christmas time baby.

  3. Congratulations! I am so happy for the arrival of your sweet precious girl. Ever since I had my own I am just smitten with baby girls. There is just something so cute, sweet, and so very precious about one. You're lucky i'm not there to hold her. I might kiss squeeze her and kiss her cheeks off. So happy for you guys! She's just beautiful!

  7. Julia! She is such a gorgeous baby, and I am bursting with joy for you guys! What a beautiful addition to your beautiful family! I can't wait to meet her--which will be probably after we have John. Charlie and I are both sick right now, so we're under quarantine. Anyway, we miss you guys, and hope we'll get to see you later this month. Congrats again on your Christmas baby!
