New Year and 30 years

New Years is my birthday and this year I turned the big 3-0! It was so nice, I feel like I am finally really truly an adult. Is that weird? Oh well, I really like it. The best part was that Aaron got me diamond earrings!!! Oh, he is so good. It was so special. I loved my birthday and my presents. Also my sister in law was cleaning out her fabric and she gave me a ton of cute boy fabric which for me was basically Christmas all over again. I made the pajamas pants below from some super cute flannel.

Aside from my b-day I felt like I needed to take advantage of the fresh start that the new year brings and do some things a little differently. I stopped making goals of exercising long ago, and the other ones that I make every year because I have faced the fact that I will never consistently exercise and all the other stuff that I make goals about never ever effects whether I actually do them or not. However, this year I have some big picture things that I would like to have happen.
-One is that I would like to be a better friend and get out of my comfort zone more to plan things. Because I am a little bit of a home-body.
-Two is get outside and Do things with Julian, because again I get caught up in all the cleaning and junk I need to do at home.
-Three I would like to get to bed early. This would pretty much be a miracle because I cannot go to bed early. It is impossible for me but Aaron and I have this idea that if we went to bed at 10 or 10:30 we could read till 10:30 or 11:00, and that would give us some down time, as well as some personal time to read whatever we want. Anyway, that incentive of reading time may help me to get to bed on time. So far I have not been able to sleep lately and have been reading till one or two in the morning anyway but I have faith that this could really work.
-Besides those ideas, I want to try to follow Jesus' example better, I want to try to be more like him. I am hoping the desire takes me a long way because I have been kind of puzzled about how to actually do that.

Happy New year, and good luck with your new years dreams and wishes:)

  2. Happy Birthday. Those pi's are adorable. I want to get together sometime and talk about cloth diapers... we are trying to decide what we are going to do.

  3. Happy Birthday! And I think your pictures from Christmas are so fun. Dave and I agreed that Julian is very, very cute! About your 4th goal, lately I've been thinking about studying all of the different names that Christ has. It would help learn more about what his example is that you're trying to be like!

  4. Happy Birthday! You came closer to the New Year's baby target than I did. My birthday is on Dec. 30. I loved what you said about your goals. One thing about getting older is realizing you can't do it all and having a few things you will do is better than a whole bunch you won't. About house keeping, have you ever looked at Fly Lady.com? She breaks it all down into manageable short tasks for each day for the whole year. I love that Saturdays are designated "Family Fun Days" instead of a cleaning marathon. I also like that her focus is not on perfection, but on blessing your home and family. The signing up for the daily e-mails is free and I wish I had had something like this years ago. I have taken "baby steps" for a year, and I think it has really helped me not only in keeping a nice home, but it other areas in my life. It was so good to see you on Skype in Dec. and thanks for commenting on my blog paintings! :) Tina

  5. Happy birthday, again! I totally spaced out on when your birthday was exactly. You're an awesome person, and I look up to you so much! I need to go to bed early as well, but someone in our house likes to stay up super late and hates it when I go to bed before him. ;)
